Baroud Joins “National Unity” Government Only
Caretaker Interior Minister Ziad Baroud stressed Monday that he will not join the new cabinet unless it is a "national unity" government.
Baroud said in an interview aired by NBN TV network that any delay in forming the new cabinet may lead to negative effects on the forthcoming Municipal elections as well as on postponing it.
"If December comes and the new cabinet is not formed yet, then we would be entering a difficult time," said Baroud.
Baroud stressed that both the Interior and Defense ministries are among the most demanding ministries in terms of responsibilities and burdens. However, he said that President Suleiman accepts to take these portfolios but will not get into the shares division puzzle among the Lebanese political parties and will not become himself a party.
