Meeting with Nasrallah Rebuilt Mutual Trust
Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat stressed that his last meeting with Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah rebuilt the mutual trust between the two leaders.
"The meeting was so positive. It rebuilt trust, and the relation is back to its status before the ties breaking," said Jumblat, describing that period as "inauspicious".
In an interview aired by Al-Manar TV network, Jumblat rejected the calls for forming a parliamentary majority government, asserting that he will not participate in such a government.
Earlier, Jumblat expressed his concerns about an American attempt to sabotage the Syrian-Saudi summit results, especially the Lebanese related results in terms of fixing the 15-10-5 formula.
Jumblat has reportedly said that not a single Lebanese party would be able to thwart the Saudi-Syrian understanding reached over Lebanon.
As Safir daily on Tuesday quoted Jumblat”s visitors as saying that the MP fears the U.S. would sabotage the results of the summit between Saudi King Abdullah and Syrian President Bashar Assad.
However, Jumblat, according to his visitors, has said not a single internal Lebanese party could thwart the understanding reached between the two regional powerhouses while at the same time no Lebanese side would be able to reject the summit”s results.
Last week, King Abdullah and Assad urged the formation of a national unity government in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Damascus visitors quoted a top Syrian official as saying Syria”s doors are open to Jumblat and any Lebanese official who believes in the historic ties between the two countries, Arabism and the choice of resistance.
The Syrian official also expressed relief over Jumblat”s latest stances.
However, well-informed sources told pan-Arab daily al-Hayat that Jumblat has informed Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah that he would not give up his alliance with PM-designate Saad Hariri.
