Zapatero in Beirut Ahead of Suleiman”s Visit to Spain
Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero arrived in Beirut on Friday, two days before President Michel Suleiman”s three-day official visit to Spain.
Upon his arrival, Zapatero headed to Baabda Palace where he held talks with President Michel Suleiman and Caretaker Prime Minister Fouad Saniora. He then headed to the South where he met his country”s brigade commander and officers working among the UNIFIL forces.
An official source told Agence France Presse that the Spanish premier will discuss with officials in Beirut developments in the region and ways to improve bilateral ties.
Suleiman is expected to travel to Spain on Sunday.
