Death penalty sought over 2008 Tripoli attack
State Prosecutor Saeed Mirza demanded death penalty and hard labor sentences for all those involved in a 2008 explosion in the northern coastal city of Tripoli which targeted Lebanese Army soldiers.
Mirza demanded death penalty for 14 of the suspects and life sentences with hard labor for 21 others, among whom 16 were arrested.
The suspects were of Lebanese, Palestinian, Syrian and Saudi nationalities. The explosion that took place in the northern city of Tripoli on August 13, 2008 killed 10 soldiers and wounded 37 soldiers and nine civilians.
