Al-Watan’s Concocted Accusations Created by Dreamers Wanting to Control Lebanon
The Lebanese Forces issued a statement in reply to a report published Monday by the Syrian newspaper Al-Watan, saying the report consists of fabrications created by those “dreaming of returning to and controlling Lebanon.”
Al-Watan accused the LF of smuggling weapons and reinstating officials who played important military roles for the party during the civil war.
The LF statement called for the Syrian daily to not fabricate stories and, instead, urge Syrian authorities “not to send weapons, fighters and terrorists across its borders to Lebanon and elsewhere.”
The statement also said that since the end of the civil war, the LF has devoted itself to building the Lebanese state and its institutions, including the Lebanese Army.
According to the statement, if there was a party in Lebanon trying to establish a state-within-a-state, then it is party allied to Syria.
