Kouchner in Beirut Thursday, Rest of Tour Postponed
French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner will arrive in Beirut on Thursday in a visit that extends till Saturday after postponing the rest of his scheduled tour to Syria, Israel, and the Palestinian territories.
French foreign ministry spokesman Bernard Valero announced on Tuesday that Kouchner will head to Lebanon between October 22 till October 24, after postponing the rest of his tour to the region for organizational reasons.
The last visit of Kouchner to the region dates back to last July when he visited Lebanon and Syria.
Last September, Kouchner hoped to come back shortly to the Middle East stressing on the necessity of achieving a progress in the issue of establishing an independent Palestinian state.
