Last-Minute Iranian Decision Could Prevent Cabinet Formation
March 14 General Secretariat Coordinator Fares Soueid told the Kuwaiti daily As-Seyassah that he fears “a last-minute Iranian decision,” in light of the suicide bombings that left at least 29 Iranian Revolutionary Guards dead, would prevent the formation of the new cabinet, highlighting Hezbollah’s link to Tehran.
Soueid highlighted the possibility of reaching an agreement on a “political exit strategy” to the impasse and on a Ministerial Statement, reiterating that he remains optimistic that a new government will soon be formed.
He also stressed that the March 14 alliance will never turn into a militia, saying, “Lebanon’s security falls only within the jurisdiction of the Lebanese army.”
