Optimism a result of Hariri-Aoun Tepidness
Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra said in a Friday interview on ANB that the “warming” of relations between Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri and Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun has created a positive mood and made possible the discussion of portfolio distribution and the names of potential ministers.
He also said that Aoun is obstructing the cabinet-formation process by claiming the majority’s declaration that the telecommunication portfolio “does not belong to a certain party” is the cause for impasse.
He spoke about sovereign portfolios, saying “all the parties agree to keep the military-security portfolios with President Michel Sleiman.”
He also said that the Lebanese Forces do demand any specific portfolio and instead desire political balance.
Zahra said that the LF decided to ease up the cabinet formation process to serve the national interests, adding that “other parties” intend to maintain the gridlock that serves “their own projects.”
