Hariri Meets Aoun as FPM Leader Demands Fair Alternatives
Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri visited Rabieh on Saturday to meet with Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun as part of consultations aimed at breaking the cabinet deadlock.
After the meeting that lasted for about an hour Hariri refused to give any statement to the media regarding the talks except for saying that "the atmosphere was positive".
Meanwhile, Aoun told Iran”s Press TV on Friday that he had exchanged viewpoints with Hariri during previous meetings but no agreement was reached on names or portfolios.
"If they (the majority) want a solution they should give us fair alternatives. If we want to be fair we (Change and Reform bloc) should get six ministries. But we could make a concession by giving up one seat but not more," the MP said.
Asked about his condition for dropping demands to keep the Telecommunications Ministry with his bloc, Aoun said: "I have to know the reasons in order to give it up. If the reasons are worth it then I could drop it. But I won”t do it without valid reasons."
