Change and Reform Share in Cabinet Lone Remaining Obstacle
Lebanese Forces bloc MP Georges Adwan said in a Sunday interview on LBCI television that the share of the Change and Reform bloc in the new government is the only remaining obstacle impeding the cabinet formation, adding that the challenges of appointing defeated candidates as ministers and granting a portfolio to the Marada Movement have been overcome.
According to him, a new government will be formed soon and there are no “major disputes” over the election of parliamentary commissions.
"The Sunnis, Shia and Druze do not have problem [with the selection of ministers], the only problem is with the Christians because they are divided into two powers," he added. He reiterated the LF”s support for the president”s important role during the cabinet-formation process.
Adwan stressed that the Syrian mandate in Lebanon will not be replaced with another one, saying that the LF supports the “strengthening of the Muslim-Christian relationship and the building of a strong state."
