Hariri for Government to Fulfill Social, Economic, Developmental Agenda
Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri said Tuesday he wants a government that would fulfill social, economic and developmental agenda.
"Not only are we seeking a government of national unity in the political sense, but one that would carry out social, economic and developmental activities through consensus among the various parties," Hariri told the Saudi-Lebanese forum at Phoenicia Hotel in downtown Beirut.
He thanked Saudi for standing side-by-side Lebanon following every "domestic ordeal."
Hariri said the region was in a "state of stability" due to inter-Arab reconciliation, particularly Saudi King Abdullah”s initiative toward Syria.
Turning to the economic issue, Hariri said that "no one had expected Lebanon to show good economic indicators following the crisis that we went through."
"At a time when the biggest banks collapsed, deposits increased by $ 16 billion at the Lebanese banking sector," he added.
