Wanted Gunman Killed, Another Injured in Hour Taala Clash with Army
A wanted man was killed and another injured during an armed clash with a Lebanese army patrol in the eastern town of Hour Taala on Thursday, the army command said in a communique.
It said the patrol was searching for Ali Mohammed al-Masri, who is wanted for involvement in the killing of troops in the area of Riaq, when the soldiers stopped a suspicious vehicle.
The car”s occupants opened fire on the patrol and escaped towards Dar al-Amal hospital in Baalbeck where the body of Safa Mohammed Tlais was dropped, according to the communique.
Tlais, better known as "Qassem Ghaniyeh," is wanted on several arrest warrants.
The vehicle”s other occupant, Mohammed Ismail Ismail, then sped away. The communique said Ismail was injured and made contacts with a physician to heal his wounds.
The army command added that it was carrying out measures to arrest those involved in the incident and seize al-Masri to hand him over to the judiciary.
