No Legislation Parliamentary Sessions without Cabinet
In an interview with As-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper published on Thursday, Lebanese Forces bloc MP Antoine Zahra said that no parliamentary legislation session would convene before the cabinet is formed.
He criticized Speaker Nabih Berri for “voicing hope” for holding the parliamentary commission’s elections, rather than working toward them, which are reportedly linked to the government formation.
“It remains true that there is sectarian distribution in the parliamentary commissions,” Zahra said, however, the distribution of commissions among parties should be linked to their representation within the government.
He added while the majority agreed to give the Budget and Finance Commission to the Change and Reform bloc to be headed by its MP, Ibrahim Kanaan, the opposition failed to make similar concessions at the government level.
