Italy has welcomed the formation of the new national unity government in Lebanon and said Prime Minister Saad Hariri will now be in charge of writing a page of peace in the country”s history.
The formation of the cabinet is a "very positive and encouraging news for the future of Lebanon and the entire Middle East," Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said in a statement on Monday.
He renewed his "full trust" in Hariri and his "goodwill."
Hariri "will be responsible for writing a new page in the history of the country characterized by peace, stability and prosperity," Frattini said.
