Sleiman Laid Foundations for Ministerial Statement
Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar told LBCI television on Wednesday that President Michel Sleiman laid the foundations for the Ministerial Statement, before commending Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s leadership skills, which “he demonstrated during the cabinet-formation process.”
Najjar also said that his name was proposed to be in the committee responsible for drafting the Ministerial Statement. However, he said that he declined because he prefers Labor Minister Boutros Harb – who won the Batroun district, where Energy Minister Gebran Bassil was defeated – to be assigned with that task “considering the circumstances,” in a possible reference to Bassil being part of the committee.
Najjar added that Harb’s position is very close to that of the Lebanese Forces, which Najjar represents in the new government.
