Lebanon was Present in Talks with Sarkozy
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said Friday that Lebanon was present in his talks with French President Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris.
Assad expressed the satisfaction of France and Syria over the formation of a national unity government in Lebanon and hoped that the Lebanese government starts its efforts to restore Lebanon”s former role.
Earlier, Assad said that he "before the formation of the Lebanese government" publicly confirmed and on numerous occasions his "support for any government of national unity in Lebanon."
"Formation of the government is a good thing for Lebanon, so as to ensure stability," Assad said in an interview with the French daily Le Figaro.
"When there are no divisions in Lebanon, it would be easier for a country like Syria to establish normal relations with it," Assad added.
