Activist Arrested then Released in Homs Over Mistaken Identity
A Free Patriotic Movement member was arrested in the Syrian city of Homs on Monday morning over mistaken identity, FPM sources told An Nahar newspaper.
The sources said Walid al-Ashkar was released at 7:30 pm Monday and taken to the border area. They told An Nahar that the man wasn”t subjected to any torture or mistreatment.
Al-Ashkar was arrested several times by Syrian intelligence during the neighboring country”s hegemony over Lebanon. He was arrested in 1999 over alleged money counterfeiting and was tortured, according to An Nahar.
