Municipality Elections Likely to be Postponed till Next Summer
Well-informed sources said there is an intention to postpone municipality elections until the end of next summer "because of failure to hold elections on time."
The sources told the daily As-Safir that Prime Minister Saad Hariri has not yet make a final decision on this issue "taking into account the desire to draw up a new law on the election of heads of municipality and mayors."
Interior Minister Ziad Baroud told the newspaper that the interior ministry was ready for municipal elections during the statutory period between May 2 and 30 "unless something came up that may prevent it."
