Independence Day to witness traffic measures
Specific traffic measures are to be taken Friday and Sunday in Beirut for the Independence Day military show and its rehearsal, the Internal Security Forces announced in a communique on Thursday.
During rehearsal Friday from 5 a.m. until the end of the show, cars will not be allowed to park on Chafic Wazzan Street from the intersection of George Haddad to the Beirut International Exhibition and Leisure Center (BIEL) and to Byblos, Foch and Allenby streets.
Traffic on the George Haddad intersection will be diverted in direction of the Ghazal tower and cars coming from the Phoenicia Hotel will be directed toward Allenby and Weygand streets. Cars will not be allowed to pass through the following streets: Al-Jamarek, Byblos, Foch, Abdel-Malek and Allenby and traffic will be diverted from these streets to Weygand Street.
The show will be held Sunday and traffic measures will be taken from 5 a.m. until the end of the show. Cars will not be allowed to park on Charles Helou Avenue from the Forum de Beirut until Chafic Wazzan Street. Traffic will be stopped on the following streets: Karantina, Pasteur, Charles Malek, Damascus Road and Salim Slam. Cars will not be allowed to pass through the Phoenicia tunnel and through streets diverging from Fakhreddine Street.
Cars will not be allowed to park on the following streets: Allenby, Foch, Byblos, Weygand, Saifi, above Charles Helou Station, Pasteur, Armenia, Chafaqa, Nicholas Turk, Fouad Boutros, Madrid, Mar Mikhael and Ibrahim Basha.
On Saturday and Sunday the port can only accessed through entrance number seven from 5 a.m. on Saturday until the end of the show.
