Higher Disciplinary Council Decision “a First Step in Judiciary Independence Journey”
President Michel Suleiman considered on Tuesday that the decision taken by the Higher Disciplinary Council "resembles the first step in the journey of the Judiciary”s independence, and the model for the work of scrutiny committees in the path of reform and fighting corruption."
After meeting with Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar, Suleiman stressed that the decisions to be taken on the level of accountability should be "limited to the administrational frame and away from any interventions of any kind."
"The step that has started, in the Judiciary itself, signals that immunizing the judicial authority is the cornerstone of reforming the administrations, and of treating them of any defects," added Suleiman.
On the other hand, Suleiman was informed by Energy Minister Jebran Bassil about his plan for the ministry, the current developments were also discussed.
Suleiman discussed the financial and monetary status in the country with Lebanon”s Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh.
