Lebanese Forces bloc MP Farid Habib told the Voice of Lebanon radio station of Monday that his party and the March 14 alliance are sticking to their reservations on Article 6 of the Ministerial Statement – which pertains to Hezbollah and its arms – stressing that the LF will not agree on having Hezbollah as an entity independent from the state.
Habib said that “any party having illegitimate arms becomes a militia, which should be disarmed and its weapons should be given to the state.”
He also said that Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s prospective trip to Syria will be a diplomatic visit that will tackle many issues, such as border demarcation, illegal arms smuggling across the border and Lebanese detainees in Syrian prisons.
