Najjar, Michele Alliot-Marie Discuss Judicial Agreement
Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar met with his French counterpart, Michele Alliot-Marie, on Tuesday to discuss the Lebanese-French agreement to cooperate on judicial issues.
Following the meeting, Alliot-Marie said she assured Najjar of France’s support to establish “The Judicial City,” next to the Ministry Palace in Beirut, to deal with judicial matters exclusively. She added that the French and Lebanese Justice ministries will work together to modify Lebanese law, especially pertaining to guardianship and children’s rights.
Najjar, in turn, said his meeting with Alliot-Marie was “fruitful,” noting that legal obstacles had delayed the ratification of the aforementioned agreement.
