Rainwater Traps People inside their Homes, Cars
Heavy rain caused flooding across Lebanon Thursday, trapping motorists in their vehicles, people in their homes as well as knocking out electricity and making roads impassable.
Rainwater from flooded streets in and around Beirut seeped into houses in Beirut”s Sabra neighborhood, trapping people inside their homes.
Some Sabra residents, who dared the stormy weather, went out into the streets, burning rubber tires in protest.
Motorists were also stranded for long hours in high waters along highways and other streets of the capital.
Public Works and Transport Minister Ghazi Aridi blamed Beirut Municipality and the Council for Development and Reconstruction for the disaster.
"The situation is no longer acceptable," Aridi said during a tour of flooded streets in Beirut.
