Phalange MPs Will Challenge Ministerial Statement”s 6th Article before Constitutional Council
Phalange Party leader, former president, Amin Gemayel announced that his party”s MPs will appeal ministerial Policy Statement”s sixth article — related to Hizbullah”s arms — before the Constitutional Council.
At a press conference held on Tuesday in Saifi, Gemayel said the step aims to consider article six as "unconstitutional" and to annul it according to the foundation law of the Constitutional Council that grants it the authority to oversee the constitutionality of laws.
Gemayel added that Phalange Party”s initiative is "to encourage political parties and all those concerned to resort to constitutional institutions, which is the normal way out of any dispute among the Lebanese."
Answering a question about Phalange”s relation with Hizbullah, Gemayel stressed upon the importance of dialogue with all Lebanese parties. He added that the filed challenge does not obstruct the dialogue and reconciliations atmosphere.
