Lebanese-Syrian Relations On trial
As-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper reported on Sunday that Lebanese Forces bloc MP Antoine Zahra said Lebanese-Syrian relations are on probation.
Zahra said he finds some recent events discouraging, such as Syrian extradition notices issued against Lebanese public figures – especially ahead of Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s and other Lebanese politicians’ recent trips to Damascus.
The MP also said that visits between the two states should be done formally – through institutions, and not on a personal basis.
Zahra said the Lebanese Forces involvement in the Syrian reconciliation is based on its participation in the cabinet, and not on its identity as a political party.
