What do Lebanese Christians Want?

حجم الخط

Lately, I was thinking about Bachir Gemayel famous words: “We were attacked as Christians but fought as Lebanese”.

What came to my mind was the obvious question: “What do Lebanese Christians want in this lovely country? this country who once, under their government, was the Switzerland of the Middle East”.

Yes, we are Lebanese before being Christians; And yes, Lebanon is our country and will always be.

We can travel the entire planet but we will keep our country in our heart and mind, days and nights. We will always wait the day when this country will be once again the jewel of the Middle East.

We are Lebanese first because many Lebanese, our ancestors in particular, gave their life to keep our beloved country free; Free for us to pray, to live our heritage and our culture; Free so that all Lebanese keep living in freedom and in dignity.

However, it is important to say that those Lebanese fighters were Christians and proud of themselves.

Therefore, I ask the Lebanese Christians again: What do you want?

Is it to live in dignity and prosperity under a fair democratic system or to succumb to a syrio-iranian dictatorship?

I beg you to ask yourselves these questions:

What is destroying the Lebanese Economy?

Who is using their military power, the so-called “Black Shirts”, to impose their law?

Which side is closing the Airport roads?’

Who is denying tourists and Lebanese families abroad from visiting Lebanon?

Who is terrorizing foreign artists and performers from coming to Lebanon?

Who is keeping the ‘Baalbek Festival’ from being held in Baalbek?

Who is defending dictatorships, those same dictators who terrorized our countrymen?

Remember the destruction of Achrafieh and Zahlé; who assassinated Bachir Gemayel, Dany Chamoun, Gebran Tueini, and Pierre Gemayel; Remember!

The answer to Bachir, Dany and Pierre, to all of our martyrs is very clear: The killer is the same since 1975.

Time for judgment is near and you will be the judge.

  1. I t is absolutely true, and it is time to decide as Christians before to late to make a decision and get Lebanon back to what it was ,,

  2. do you call this an article or a piece of comment up there ? before you attack anybody (in this case its obvious) try not to blame at least that doesnt solve anything.

second if i will imagine you as a picture, i would draw a person sitting under a tree, opening his palm , and waiting the apple to fall down straight to his palm. get over it dude, i know you call yourself writter and you do your job. but remember lebanese dont understand writings, few of us pass by to make a quick read and quick comment. you want change be the change, i dont read any message that says we have to do this to change … no , nothing ,… you just wrote they did this and that , ok … we know that and everybody knows that , so ? what is your conclusion ? you dont even have message you have opinion (could be personal or not)… so please i beg you , we need message from articles, not same things , and we read and read over and over again. thank you !

ps: i want you personally to respond to my message.

  3. Let me respond to anonymous.

    – I want laws that are protect the life and rights of every Lebanese. For that to be a reality, I want the Parliament members to draft those laws.
    – I want the laws to be enforced. I want laws written that punishes and fires the people who do not enforce, who call on ANY party official to come to their rescue, and who are bribed. For that to be a reality, I want the Parliament members to draft those laws.
    – I want economic policies that opens the job market for the next generation. Ours is almost behind us. Those policies will eliminate waste, government subsidies, and anyone who is getting a check without putting 1 hour worth of work effort.

    – I want electoral laws that allow every individual to elect the candidate they deem appropriate for their inspiration. I want that electoral law to enact Term Limit (no more than 2 consecutive terms in Parliament, ever!). I also want that law that allow voters the chance to kick someone out of office, for breach of honor, bribery, stealing money, making shady deals, and despotism.

I have so many other desires and hopes for this country, and I can go on. However, I would me more than satisfied if one Parliament Member adopts my 4 items above as their agenda for the upcoming election. For once, I would like to see elections run clean, unbiased, detached from any political parties, being this or that. We want to live, not die for anyone, regardless of who they are.

I believe that is what not only Christians, but all Lebanese, want.

    • thank you 🙂 i believe you can do this if you have the believe . and i find your opinion better than the article above, which gives wider explanation than blaming only .

      bless you .

      • Thanks for the feedback Anonymous. My question to everyone is, how can we, as Lebanese Citizens, have the proper mindset to cause these Parliament Members do their job?
Currently they don’t. Most of them follow their Political affiliation in terms of politics, forgetting that their primary job in life is to draft laws for their constituents.
As long as we, the voters, allow them this freedom, we can always blame others and lament, but I say we are to be blamed. We should throw them out of office and find a way to have an electoral law that forces them to draft laws to improve the lives of all citizens.
        Food for thought.
