5 تشرين الثاني: مجلس النواب اللبناني يصدق على اتفاق الطائف والذي وقعه الأطراف اللبنانية لإنهاء الحرب الأهلية، وفي الجلسة نفسها انتخب النائب رينيه معوض رئيسًا للجمهورية بعد شغور منصب الرئيس منذ نهايه ولاية الرئيس أمين الجميل قبل سنة وشهرين تقريبًا، عام 1989.
November 5th: Lebanese Parliament ratifies the Taif Agreement, which was signed by the Lebanese parties to end the civil war, and at the same meeting the MP Rene Mouawad was elected president of the republic after the vacancy of the post of president since the end of the mandate of President Amine Gemayel, a year and two months before, year 1989
