There’s no doubt that Hezbollah’s military presence hinders the establishment of a true state in Lebanon. Banning the use of weapons internally while allowing them to be used against foreign countries under the “resistance” title is complete nonsense. And whoever believes that the situation can be rectified before Hezbollah surrenders its weapons to the state is delusional.
But what shouldn’t be overlooked is that the situation in Lebanon after the withdrawal of the Syrian army in April 2005 differs from the situation that preceded the withdrawal. It also differs from the situation during the war. Meaning that today’s circumstances are very different from the ones during the past.
Apart from the goals behind those who are demanding to leave the government and hand the country over to Hezbollah showing a weak and defeatist position, what is illogical is lying about unjustified failures dealing with people’s daily life issues, from electricity cuts to catastrophic pollution, And the lack of transparency required for the practice of public affairs.
This is precisely what the Lebanese Forces is focusing on, especially with their ministers in the current government. There is no justification for the violation of every Lebanese citizen’s dignity at every sunrise. No justification for the jungle law we live in, No justification for the inability to provide all requirements to the people, And the absence of basic infrastructure.
There is certainly a sovereignty problem, and the Lebanese Forces will always remain the leader on this front, but we do not see why there’s an absence of serious reform steps and radical, definitive solutions to vital life issues. Therefore, the Lebanese Forces will continue to fight for the people’s needs, keeping them free, sovereign, and independent throughout the 10452 squared kilometres we live in.
