The upcoming elections are taking priority over everything, and political parties are relentlessly trying to form almost impossible alliances due to the lack of a comprehensive and complete harmony, this is natural as the new law initiated the principle of “alliances per area”.
The basic rule of the new law lies in the ability of any party to acquire seats in parliament. Here lies the importance of the preferential vote which puts an end to the populist culture of campaigning, and leads to the election of the most represented candidates. Yet does not end the role of alliances.
The choices of the Lebanese Forces is open to most of the parties and independent candidates within the limits of its national convictions. Consequently, it’s not in the process of concluding any electoral alliance with parties that don’t meet its national principles.
On this note, the Lebanese Forces is managing its negotiations with more than one team. What can be revealed is that the negotiations have reached advanced stages, and if these talks persist, alliances could be formed by the end of this month.
