Say goodbye to the Lacoste Crocodile. Long ago, hunting animals was a means of survival for many different tribes and on a larger scale entire civilizations. Fortunately, human beings have largely progressed from what was once a hunter-gatherer community to a much more civilized society today. The need for hunting to ensure the continuity of humans slowly diminished with time, other means of nourishment such as fishing and farming became available. Unfortunately, the popularity of hunting grew much wider as a sports event. Many species of animals became extinct because of the severity of hunting, much more are on the verge of extinction. The proof of their existence in photographs remains evidence of the cruelty of man. Even though hunting expeditions, especially in Africa, are still undertaken every year and posted on social media, many individuals, as well as large-scale companies, are taking a stand against this matter.
The French clothing line Lacoste has changed its all too famous logo to raise awareness about the fact that some animals will cease to exist in a very short period of time. Lacoste crocodile gone to be replaced by ten different endangered species with every species amassing a specific amount of polos that corresponds with the number of how many animals are left in both their natural habitat and protected enclosures. The total sum of polos amounts to 1775. Every extinction of whatever species of animals no matter how small or big causes an imbalance in the ecosystem they previously populated. An imbalance in the ecosystem may possibly have a negative effect on humans so why take the risk. Kudos to Lacoste for their eye-opening movement, hopefully, they will be able to truly raise awareness and change the attitudes of folks toward hunting.
