It’s true that no one and nothing is perfect, it’s true that whoever is involved in politics sometimes commits mistakes, it’s also true that the Lebanese Forces has committed mistakes, but the Lebanese Forces has never been mistaken when it comes to its nationalism.
It’s enough to compare the Lebanese Forces to all political parties and groups in Lebanon to fully understand the difference.
Opponents criticize the Lebanese Forces for its candidates running for the elections without actually seeing what’s happening in other parties, and if they say that the Lebanese Forces lacks democracy, then we must ask which party is the most democratic in Lebanon with the most advanced bylaws being a role-model for all those who wish to be democratic. And if they ask why did the Lebanese Forces choose this person over that to run for the elections, we ask, is there a certain law or personal criteria to be followed when choosing candidates?
If they say that the Lebanese Forces is part of a corrupt government, then we tell them that there has never been a government that hasn’t been accused with corruption, and is that a legitimate reason for a party to stay on the opposing side forever? Or is it an incentive for setting an example of good governance? And if they ask how is the Lebanese Forces helping the people, we ask how is the government actually helping its people? It’s enough to take the massive development projects in Bsharre as an example, where the political majority is from the Lebanese Forces, so they may have an idea of what the Lebanese Forces can do for the rest of the country when elected.
In turn, we are the ones to ask, where were they and where are they now when the Lebanese Forces was and still is sacrificing everything for our country?
It’s not enough to blindly criticize a party, there should be an objective comparison, but the truth be told, the Lebanese Forces can never be compared.
