What do people want

حجم الخط

The Lebanese Forces announced its 19 candidates in an event that held many political messages, most important of which was Dr Samir Geagea’s speech in which he drew the roadmap that will lead us all to the state we dream of.

The people want a state that exclusively controls weapons, anything else means that the country will stay vulnerable to war and chaos, and when militias overpower the state, all governmental institutions will be useless.

People want to get rid of the zoo state which acts as a cancerous body putting the whole country in a coma, mainly because of militias and corruption.

People want to live normal lives in a normal country, far away from the chaos we’ve been living since 1967, a country where all citizens are equal, where the law is the only authority that brings justice, and where security is protected by the official bodies of the government exclusively.

People want to live in dignity and receive their most basic rights like electricity, clean water, medical care, education, infrastructure, and a clean environment.

People want politics to be dealt with the sole purpose of keeping the citizens’ and country’s interest, and not on the citizens’ and country’s expense.

The above can only be achieved by those who are truly able to. What Dr Geagea said yesterday is very important, we should not believe false promises by those who have been in power for ages, and therefore we should focus on two main headlines.

The first headline Dr Geagea focused on is the importance of political parties, because parties alone are able to carry causes till the end, and the small day to day problems of the people can never be solved without looking at the big picture and solving the big problems.

And the second headline is choosing the right party that is able to carry the people’s issues, worries, and concerns. Meaning that this party should have an excellent history of transparency and performance, and it’s not enough to vote for parties that put their personal interest before the country’s and the people’s interests.

Dr Geagea was very clear when he said: “No one can ask how can we differentiate between those who are corrupt and those who are clean, because after all that we’ve been through it’s very clear who’s corrupt and who’s not, and if you want an independent, sovereign, clean and fair state, vote for the Lebanese Forces.”
