The public sector in Lebanon is not nearly enough to supply the citizens with what they need. The gap between what is needed and what is available is massive. The private sector picks off where the public one slacks off to profit. Unfortunately, the private sector’s bill is usually too high. Not everyone can pay that price. This is where non-profit organizations come in. These organizations are usually charities from various religions and sects. One non-profit organization that comes to mind is Beit Rafqa. Managed by Beit Rafqa Association, this assisted living facility provides a state of the art home for the elderly. Few facilities like Beit Rafqa exist, not only in Lebanon but the Arab world as a whole. The Sisters have been taking care of the elderly since the forties of the last century. Their care and compassion impressed the Serimana Foundation and so the new project came to be. The new and improved facility was only very recently constructed. The resting home provides a comfortable and respectable living space, where the elderly will live out their years in dignity. The new building was able to see the light through the countless contributions and donations. Every cent donated helps institutions such as Beit Rafqa and many others to help those in need.
