Attention has suddenly shifted to the  recent events in Syria, The Israeli airstrike on Syrian military airport T-4 where Iranian and Russian military forces are present, and the western, specifically the American reaction to the Syrian regime’s chemical attack on the Syrian city of Douma, where American President Donald Trump confirmed that a decision for military intervention in Syria will be taken in the next few hours, and stated that the issue is against humanity and will not be tolerated, President Trump also agreed with French President Emmanuel Macron that the Assaad Regime must face consequences. British Prime Minister Theresa May also stated that the Syrian regime and whoever supports it should be held accountable.

On this note, and in yesterday’s United Nation’s Security Council’s urgent meeting, American Ambassador Nikki Haley stated that the United States will take action regardless of the Security Council’s position regarding the attack on Douma, and it’s noteworthy to mention that recent reports have confirmed the presence of the USS Donald Cook in the Middle East.

All reactions show that an attack against the Syrian regime is inevitable, but the question is: Will this attack be fatal to the Syrian regime or will it be similar to the previous ones? Or will it be stronger than the last but not quite enough to destroy the regime?

And if this attack is inevitable, will this be the end of it? Or will Tehran and Moscow retaliate? And will all this be the beginning of a new era for the region through Syria instead of Iran and its conflict with the United States over the nuclear deal and its effect on the Iranian economy after the sanctions?

Regardless if the above questions are answered at the earliest, what’s obvious is that the region has entered a new stage, with the hope that Lebanon will stay neutral to the ongoing and upcoming wars nearby, and the decision to stay neutral should be taken by the Lebanese government alone, and all Lebanese parties must abide, especially Hezbollah.
