The main priority today is protecting Lebanon, the only concern is whether Hezbollah will be involved as per an Iranian request as a reaction to an inevitable attack on the Syrian regime. The attention is on the size of the attack, and if Tehran and Moscow are going to engage.
Every Lebanese party has a right of an opinion with or against the attack, with the Syrian regime or against it, as long as these opinions do not affect the political stability at home, because the most beneficial decision currently is to stay neutral and as far away as possible from any conflict in the region.
Any attempt to engage Lebanon in the ongoing turmoil will be very costly for the parties involved. The Lebanese people will not be forgiving to any behavior that might endanger their security, economy, prosperity, and their own lives. Especially when this danger comes under false promises and illogical campaigning that truly insults people’s intelligence.
The Lebanese public opinion won’t go easy on any mistake that would lead to catastrophes no matter what the titles are, and what a coincidence that what is happening in the region today is happening around the time of the Lebanese civil war memorial, reminding us that those dark days are over, and the Lebanese people will not be permitting nor forgiving.
