The Lebanese Forces’ support for Michel Aoun’s presidency revolves around two main points; first, the choosing of a president with parliamentary and public support, just like the House Speaker and most of the Prime Ministers, therefore blocking all attempts to isolate true Christian representation; and second, for supporting the president and his role in Lebanese politics.
The president’s power comes from his representation and alliances, strong alliances give credibility to the president and defuse tension, turning competition into productivity, keeping in mind that these strong alliances give the president the ability to effectively fight corruption.
Since the president’s credibility and support come from his representation and alliances, there is no need for a separate portion of ministers for the president. And to whom it may concern, any attempt to create a monopoly within the Christian political community will not be accepted especially after the parliamentary elections’ results, an attempt like that will negatively affect the fresh start the country is in dire need for.
