Suleiman: Arabs Face the Threat of Terror
President Michel Suleiman on Wednesday said only the nation”s interest can motivate the presidency, which would not tolerate foreign pressures.
Suleiman, addressing foreign ambassadors accredited to Lebanon, also said joint Arab interest can motivate the presidency.
Lebanon, Suleiman said, hopes for an accomplished inter-Arab reconciliation "so that we can all launch a joint effort in the interest of the Arab nation."
He said Arab states "face the same threats. We hope for sound and good relations between Arab states that face the threat of terror."
"The other threat we face is the Israeli enemy that we have to confront together as we seek thorough peace through which rights and lands can be regained, especially the Palestinian People”s right to return" to their homeland, Suleiman said.
"This leads us to working for inter-Arab reconciliation that would have positive impact on Lebanon."
Forming a new cabinet, according to the president, is faced by "the same obstacles, but things are being settled through dialogue, in a calm manner and without tension."
"Allegations about exerting pressures by states on the presidency regarding ministers and certain portfolios are not true," he said.
