دعا البابا فرنسيس الى يوم صلاة وصوم في العالم من اجل لبنان في الرابع من ايلول لمناسبة مرور شهر على انفجار مرفأ بيروت. وقال، “لبنان يواجه خطرا كبيرا ويجب عدم التخلي عنه”. وانتشرت صورة تظهر تقبيل البابا فرنسيس للعلم اللبناني.
