Jumblatt: Hezbollah’s weapons aren’t related to the Shebaa Farms
Head of the Democratic Gathering bloc MP Walid Jumblatt said that angry statements are resurfacing, which raises questions, especially in light of the delay in forming the cabinet. He added that such statements do not serve the reconciliatory spirit that was set by the Doha Agreement.
“Political efforts must be intensified in order to establish the government, which will be the first step toward a clam and objective discussion of the country’s defense strategy against the Israeli enemy,” Jumblatt told the PSP-run weekly Al-Anbaa.
He also reiterated his support of PM Fouad Siniora’s statement on the need to distinguish between the issue of the Shebaa Farms and the Resistance’s weapons, which he said are related to its defense strategy, not liberating Lebanese land.
He said that discussing a defense strategy for Lebanon will prevent further incidents of violence.
According to Jumblatt, pointing weapons at anyone besides Israel will endanger Lebanon. “Is it required for Lebanon to become an open ground for bloody conflicts again? Why weaken the army?”
