Hariri: March 14 Will Not Stand Handcuffed
MP Saad Hariri said the majority March 14 alliance will not stand handcuffed against electing a president, raising the possibility that the ruling camp might resort to elections by a majority vote of half-plus-one.
“The opposition is delaying the vote but I tell the Lebanese people that a president is coming and that those who are trying to disrupt the election should shoulder the responsibility,” Hariri told his Future TV.
“The opposition is postponing the election of a president and is seeking to consolidate a presidential vacuum. This is wrong,” he said.
“We don”t want to violate the constitution in order to amend the constitution,” Hariri addedd.
“March 14 Forces will not stand handcuffed against electing a president and will take measures that could speed up the elections of a new president,” Hariri said.
