Normalization of relations with must include fate of missing persons and detainees
The Kataeb Party issued a statement on Monday expressing its members’ hope that Mediterranean Summit would speed up the peace process in the Middle East.
The Kataeb, headed by former President of the Republic Amin Gemayel, also welcomed the meetings between Lebanese and Syrian heads of state in Paris over the weekend, which aim at normalizing relations between the two countries.
The statement noted the need to uncover the fate of missing persons and detainees in Syrian prisons, in addition to the demarcation of a common border between the two countries and the completion of diplomatic exchanges.
The Kataeb said they were happy with the birth of the national unity government which confirmed the decision to reconstruct Lebanon after the devastation it had “suffered since the summer of 2006.”
The party also said it hoped the ministerial statement would embody the aspirations of the Lebanese.
