The Lebanese Forces Students Association hosts members from the German Christian Democratic Union
Following a series of visits made by the Lebanese Forces Students Association (LFSA) to Germany, the Public Relations & Foreign Affairs Bureau in the LFSA hosted a group of representatives from the “Junge Union” the youth organisation of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). The group consisted from David Lungen, Alexander Felsch, Peter Thomas, and Paul Ziemiak in addition to Elias Moussa member of the LF German foreign affairs. The aim of the visit was to introduce the visitors to Lebanon, the political life closely and to evolve the relation between both parties.
The group attended the third yearly celebration of Dr. Geagea’s release from prison held in the Lebanese Forces headquarters in Maarab and listened to speeches from the head of the executive committee – Dr. Samir Geagea, the justice minister Mr. Ibrahim al Najjar and parliamentary member – Mrs. Setrida Geagea, in addition to three prisoners freed from the Syrian and Lebanese jails during the Syrian hegemony over Lebanon. The German group also met with the environment minister Mr. Tony Karam in downtown of Beirut and Dr. Geagea’s foreign affairs advisor Mr. Elie Khoury in Gemayzeh and yet another meeting with the diasporas responsible Mr. Antoine Bared in the presence of Mr. Georges Abi Raad, head of Europe section in the Lebanese Forces and Mr. Nehme Moussa, responsible for the LF foreign affairs in Germany.
An exclusive meeting was also set with Dr. Samir Geagea who insisted on the importance of what the youth organizations in both parties are doing in order to strengthen and develop the relation between both parties.
A seminar in Yasou El Malak that included a presentation and historic briefing about both countries and parties was the most important in a series of meetings held on the students and youth level, in addition to a meeting with the president and head of bureaus in the LFSA, and finally a meeting with the LFSA public relations and foreign affairs bureau.
The visit also included meetings with first secretary and head of the political section in the German embassy in Bayada, Mr. Michael Ohnmacht. The group also met with Mr. Elias Asswad the chairman of the Lebanese-German business council.
The trip included visits to most of Lebanon’s tourist’s attractions, and was concluded by the exchange of symbolic gifts and an invitation from the Christian Democratic Union to attend their annual convention this November in Germany received by Mr. Wissam Habchi, head of the public relations & foreign affairs in the LFSA.
