March 14 will run a unified slate in the coming elections

March 14 alliance will run a unified slate in the coming parliamentary elections, and that the Doha Agreement had been a success for the state Former MP Fares Soueid said.

In a lecture at a summer camp organized by the Progressive Youth Organization (a branch of the Progressive Socialist Party) on Thursday, Soueid said, “Lebanese are afraid of Hezbollah and they want to have a strong army and a unified decision on all matters of war and peace. Accordingly, the Lebanese will not vote for a party that obstructs state building. The elections depend on March 14 as well as on the internal, regional, and international situation.”

Soueid said that March 14 relied on President Michel Sleiman for the state building process and said that the latter had received nothing during his visit to Damascus.

“Syria obstructs Lebanon’s efforts to regain sovereignty, in part because Iran, which also tries to hinder such efforts, does not allow the Syrian President to speak on their behalf” Soueid said.

Soueid said that there were some who aimed to subvert the President’s power over the national dialogue, singling out “Hezbollah which wants to define the number of participants, topics and timing, knowing full well that this is Sleiman’s responsibility.”

“If major regional changes take place this means that we are entering the coming parliamentary elections in a state that is weak and, as March 14 has not defined its political orientation the results cannot be known.”
