UN and Holland to sign agreement over the location of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon
The United Nations and the Dutch government will sign tomorrow an agreement over the location of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.
The Lebanese government commissioned earlier this week the UN secretary general to take charge of the necessary procedures in this regard.
The UN has already handled matters over the funds and the appointment of judges. It has also appointed Canadian Judge Daniel Bellemare, Serge Brammertz’s predecessor, as general prosecutor of the tribunal.
Holland agreed to take care of the court’s locations and security for six years without any charge.
