Geagea Ready to Meet Franjieh Any Time
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea has said he is ready to meet Marada Movement leader Suleiman Franjieh "any time."
Geagea, in a television interview with Arabiya on Friday, also repeated that he would not be a candidate in the 2009 parliamentary elections.
Geagea said the Lebanese Forces had apologized by accepting the Taef accord that ended the civil war.
He declared support for the principle of "confronting Israel … but any confrontation, with Israel or any other force, should be based on the state concept."
Hizbullah, according to Geagea, is "part of Iran”s military readiness and in case Israel bombed Iran, Hizbullah wouldn”t hesitate in attacking Israel and we would harvest harm."
He said the "state would intervene in case Hizbullah tried to move from" its area of influence to Christian areas.
Commenting on the deployment of Syrian troops off Lebanon”s northern borders, Geagea said: Syrian President Bashar "Assad wants to remind us that he is here."
The Syrians, he added, are trying to "scout the point from which they can re-enter Lebanon. But they wouldn”t be able to make a comeback because the majority of the Lebanese people is against the move as well as the Arabs and the international community, including Russia."
