Geagea-Franjieh Meeting Does Not Override Judicial Authority
Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra confirmed that the meeting between Lebanese Forces Executive Council head Samir Geagea and Marada Movement leader Sleiman Franjieh would not be held on Sunday.
In an interview with Future News television on Sunday, Zahra added that the meeting would be soon, and all conditions previously set were no longer applicable.
Zahra said that the Lebanese Forces did not have an objection to the presence of Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun at the meeting, but Zahra suggested defining the issues to be discussed prior to deciding whether his presence was necessary.
He added that the meeting did not intend to surpass the authority of the judicial bodies investigating the Bsarma incident, in which clashes between Lebanese Forces and Marada Movement supporters left two people dead, because he said all criminals should be brought to justice.
He called for weapons to be restricted to legitimate military institutions.
