Qassem says Christians Support Resistance Too
Deputy Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said that Christians accepted the Resistance and supported it as much as Muslims because they realized that it was a national movement.
He said that the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2006 by Hezbollah and the Free Patriotic Movement proved this.
He called for the consolidation of Lebanese-Syrian relations on the basis of the countries’ common interests and criticized some people’s doubts about the Syrian deployment along the borders which, he said, was to prevent smuggling.
“If some parties fear forging relations with Iran, then it is their problem because Iran offered help and supported the Resistance and the people of Lebanon,” he said.
He added that Doha Agreement paved the way for making efforts to accomplish reconciliations.
He called on the people to be aware and to reject bribery during the parliamentary elections in 2009 and affirmed that Hezbollah will accept the results because they will express the people’s will.
He supported the army which, he said, was carrying out the responsibility of preserving peace and facing occupation.
