Geagea, Mubarak Discuss Shabaa Farms, Syrian Troop Buildup
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea discussed Tuesday with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak the political situation in Lebanon, particularly the issues of the Israeli-occupied Shabaa Farms and Syrian troop buildup along the border with Lebanon.
Geagea told reporters in Cairo that he believed the Syrian deployment was aimed at putting "moral pressure on the residents of northern Lebanon with (parliamentary) elections nearing."
Geagea — accompanied by MP Antoine Zahra, Ex-Minister Joe Sarkis and LF”s Foreign Affairs Official Joseph Nehmeh — traveled to Cairo on Monday night in a previously unannounced official visit that will last several days.
He is expected to meet Tuesday with Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit, Arab League chief Amr Moussa and other officials.
