US Is Committed To Lebanon No Matter Who Is Elected Tuesday
US Ambassador Michelle Sisson said that Washington’s commitment to Lebanon would not change, regardless of who won Tuesday’s elections.
Speaking on LBCI TV on Monday, Sisson urged the Syrians not to use the bomb attacks in Tripoli and Damascus as an excuse for deploying its forces along the borders with Lebanon.
The US ambassador said the $410-million in US aid to the Lebanese army would be resumed as scheduled to help combat terrorism, implement international resolutions and preserve Lebanon’s sovereignty.
Sisson denied that the reason the US was not providing the Lebanese army with heavy arms had anything to do with Israel.
