Palestinians Arrest Two Members of the Jawhar Ring
Palestine Liberation Organization military police on Friday arrested two terror suspects in the northern refugee camp of Baddawi and arrangements were underway to turn them over to Lebanese authorities.
The two suspects arrested after a major clash were identified as Nader al-Ali and Khaled Jaber, who are accused of being members of the terror ring headed by wanted Lebanese citizen Abdul Ghani Jawhar.
A Palestinian civilian identified as Tareq Maari was killed by a stray bullet during the clash.
The pan-Arab daily al-Hayat quoted Lebanese security sources as saying the Jawhar ring is made up of Lebanese, Palestinian and Syrian elements based in the northern village of Bibnine, Baddawi camp and the southern refugee camp of Ain el-Hilweh.
Sources said 24 members of the cell have been arrested and 11 remain at large.
